Job summary
Moffatt & Nichol, a leader in waterfront infrastructure, seeks a Water Resources / Stormwater Engineer with 5 to 10 years of experience to join our Charleston office. You will work on projects spanning federal flood risk management to municipal stormwater plans, collaborating with coastal engineering teams and national water resources practice.
You will contribute to regional resilience strategies, nature-based approaches, and diverse project delivery across Southeast regions with opportunities
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with strong academics.
- 5 to 10 years of experience in water resources / stormwater management projects.
- PE license required within 6 months; CFM preferred.
- Experience with floodplain mapping, FEMA regs, and urban drainage modeling.
Responsibilities
- Prepare analyses, plans, specs, and cost estimates for flood risk, coastal resilience, and stormwater projects.
- Develop hydrologic, hydraulic, and hydrodynamic models (1D/2D riverine, urban drainage, coastal systems).
- Evaluate flood risk, system capacity, pump/outfall performance and alternatives.
- Support surge, tidal flooding, rainfall-driven flood analyses and adaptive approaches.
- Prepare technical memos and presentations for internal and public-sector clients.
- Coordinate with project teams, GIS, visualization, subcontractors, and agencies.
- Engage in stakeholder activities and regulatory coordination on floodplain management and permitting.
- Contribute to feasibility decisions, cost considerations, and constructability.
- Coordinate across offices to support project delivery and workshare.
