Job summary

Little Thompson Water District is seeking a Water Resources Specialist to provide technical information, evaluate water shares and non-potable systems, and explain raw water requirements to developers and the public. You will work with staff, counsel and consultants to prepare Water Court actions and defend the District’s rights.

The role involves creating and analyzing models for long-range water supply planning and performing conservation tasks by developing programs and measuring results.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, water resources, or closely related field required with three or more years of experience in a related field.
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may substitute for education.
  • A valid Colorado driver’s license and satisfactory driving record to drive District vehicles is also required.
  • Pre-employment drug screening may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate native water shares, non-potable systems, and new water supplies.
  • Explain raw water requirements to developers and the public.
  • Collaborate with water resource staff, legal counsel and consultants to assist in preparing Water Court applications and defending existing water rights.
  • Create and analyze models for long-range water supply planning.
  • Develop and measure water conservation programs.
