Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Civil Graduate Engineer to join our Water Resources team. You will work on a team providing support to a licensed Civil Engineer, learn design software, perform calculations, and assist with plans, specs, and project management tasks.

The role is aimed at pursuing a Professional Engineering license and requires strong teamwork and communication. Expected start date: January 2026 or May/June 2027.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering, or equivalent field of study, and/or the ability to obtain within 6-12 months.
• Engineer-in-Training certificate, or the ability to obtain within 6-12 months.
• Interest in pursuing Professional Engineering license.

Responsibilities

• Assist project team in design of public infrastructure work.
• Provides technical, day-to-day design support to the Project Engineer, including drafting support for plan production activities.
• Prepare engineering reports, feasibility studies, and utility evaluations.
• Prepares drawings and visual aids.
• Prepare various exhibits and design drawings using AutoCAD Civil3D, Bluebeam, MicroStation, Open Roads, HEC RAS, or other related engineering software.
• Follow internal QA/QC procedures, engineering standards, and best practices.
• Observes construction activities and works to develop an understanding of construction methods and the translation of engineering drawings and specifications into the constructed product
• Works to learn the fundamentals of engineering processes and to apply them successfully to operating systems
• Coordination with agency staff and internal support teams on designs, analysis, and issues
• Utilizing Microsoft Office Suite to develop calculations in Excel, reports and letters in Word, and presentations in PowerPoint
• Other duties as assigned
