Job summary

Water Works Engineers invites an Engineering Intern to join our team, supporting design tasks for water infrastructure projects across the Western United States. You will work with Civil, Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical engineers, gaining hands-on experience in office and field settings while applying your coursework to real-world water systems.

You’ll participate in design, research, specifications, and QA activities, with opportunities for professional development and networking.

Qualifications

• Enrolled as a junior or senior pursuing a Bachelor’s in Civil/Environmental/Mechanical/Electrical/Structural Engineering.
• Strong academic foundation in water, wastewater, or infrastructure design is preferred.
• Interest in applying engineering concepts to real community water systems.
• Proficiency with MS Office; CAD or modeling exposure is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to work in a team and independently.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preliminary and detailed design for water, wastewater, and recycled water projects.
• Research and compare treatment and conveyance system options.
• Help prepare specifications, bid packages, and submittals under supervision.
• Participate in field observations and QA activities per project requirements.
• Collaborate with Civil, Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical engineers.
• Document field observations, calculations, and non-compliance issues.
• Learn engineering design principles, construction practices, and project management basics.
• Contribute to proposals and business development efforts as opportunities arise.
• Support general office tasks and a wide range of engineering duties.
