Job summary

North Texas Municipal Water District is hiring a Professional Engineer (Water Resources) to coordinate raw water pumping operations, monitor lake/river levels, and manage water accounting plans. You will oversee project work, quality control water system projects, and support regulatory permitting activities.

You will liaise with internal departments, attend design and construction meetings, produce regulatory reports, and assist with budgets and strategic initiatives for NTMWD’s Water System.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or other related field.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensed in the State of Texas.
• Experience reading and interpreting technical documents.
• Experience with scheduling, modeling software, GIS and/or design software platforms such as AutoCAD preferred.
• Requires a valid Texas Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Acts as liaison between Water Resources and multiple internal departments.
• Participates in Engineering design meetings and construction progress meetings.
• Reviews studies and designs for completeness and accuracy as QC function.
• Generates operational and regulatory reports such as raw water accounting plans and Water Consumption Reports.
• Assists with administration of water supply permits and contracts.
• Coordinates and implements procedures related to Raw Water Operations Plan and Water Resource and Emergency Management Plan.
• Supports regulatory permitting activities for existing and new water supplies.
• Serves as project manager for assigned projects and studies.
• Collects, analyzes and maintains Water System data for distribution.
• Assists in preparation of the Water System’s annual budgets.
• Participates in development and implementation of strategic Water System initiatives.
• Liaises with public, cities, prospective customers and regulatory partners.
• Presents information on Water System activities to groups.
