Job summary

Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP in Baltimore is seeking an experienced Water Resources Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 11-15 years of progressive water resources engineering experience and hold a Maryland PE license.

You will lead planning, analysis, design, and permitting of water resources projects, mentor junior staff, coordinate with clients and regulators, and contribute to business development while delivering high-quality projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from ABET-accredited program; Master’s degree preferred.
• 11-15 years of progressive experience in water resources engineering.
• Active Maryland Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Proficiency in water resources modeling software such as HEC-RAS (1D and 2D), HEC-HMS, SWMM, TR-55, and similar.
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation preferred.
• Strong understanding of Maryland environmental regulations and permitting processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the planning, analysis, design, and permitting of water resources projects, including: Stormwater management, Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, Dam and embankment evaluation and breach modeling, Floodplain studies, Erosion and sediment control.
• Prepare engineering plans, reports, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Manage and mentor junior engineering staff and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Conduct field investigations and site assessments.
• Coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies, and other project stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Assist with proposal development and business development initiatives.
