Job summary

Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP (WRA) seeks an experienced Water Resources Engineer for our Mechanicsburg office. The candidate will lead planning, analysis, design, and permitting of water resources projects across public and private sectors.

The ideal candidate has 11–15 years of water resources experience, an active PA PE license or ability to obtain it within 6 months, and proficiency with HY-8, NRCS/TR-55/TR-20, HydroCAD, StreamStats, and HEC-RAS.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
  • 11–15 years of progressive experience in water resources engineering.
  • Active Pennsylvania PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Experience with HY-8, NRCS TR-55/TR-20, HydroCAD, StreamStats, HEC-RAS.
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor junior engineering staff and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

WRA is seeking an experienced Water Resources Engineer to join our team in the Mechanicsburg office. The ideal candidate will have 11 to 15 years of relevant experience in water resources engineering, with a proven ability to deliver high-quality projects across both public and private sectors.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and support the planning, analysis, design, and permitting of water resources projects, including:
    • Stormwater management
    • Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling
    • Dam and embankment evaluation and breach modeling
    • Floodplain studies
    • Erosion and sediment control
  • Prepare engineering plans, reports, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Manage and mentor junior engineering staff and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Conduct field investigations and site assessments.
  • Coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies, and other project stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Assist with proposal development and business development initiatives.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited program; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 11–15 years of progressive experience in water resources engineering.
  • Active Pennsylvania Professional Engineer (PE) license (or ability to obtain within 6 months, if registered elsewhere).
  • Experience with H/H design software including HY-8, NRCS (TR-55/TR-20); HydroCAD, StreamStats, HEC-RAS, et. al.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of PennDOT/PA Turnpike specifications, policies, and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.

The expected compensation range for this position is $140,000.00 - $215,000.00. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
