Job summary

Thomas & Hutton is seeking a Water Resources Engineer in the New York area to design stormwater and drainage systems. You will perform hydrologic/hydraulic analyses, prepare reports, and coordinate with regulatory agencies while collaborating with mentors and multidisciplinary teams.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree, EIT certification, and 3–5 years of relevant experience; a PE license is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • EIT certification required; PE license strongly preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in water resources engineering, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, and stormwater design.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D software applications.
  • Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Client-service mindset with ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

  • Develop stormwater management reports, drainage studies, and supporting technical documentation.
  • Assist with preparation of permit applications and coordination with regulatory agencies.
  • Utilize Civil 3D and water resources modeling software to develop and refine project designs.
  • Coordinate regularly with clients, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams throughout project delivery.
  • Lead and coordinate design activities, including assigning tasks and monitoring progress of team members.
  • Support project execution to meet scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives.

On-site: Monday–Thursday 7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.; Friday 7:30 a.m.–11:30 a.m.
