Job summary

Thomas & Hutton, a leading civil engineering firm in Columbia, SC, is seeking a water resources engineer to advance stormwater and drainage projects across the Southeast. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • EIT certification required; PE license strongly preferred
  • 3–5 years of experience in water resources engineering, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, and stormwater design
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D software applications
  • Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; proven ability to manage multiple priorities and complete assignments on schedule
  • Client-service mindset with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to lead a design team, delegate responsibilities, and track project progress
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail; excellent time-management and organizational skills

Responsibilities

  • Prepare construction plans and engineering designs for stormwater management, drainage, flood-control, and water resources projects
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to support project planning and design
  • Develop stormwater management reports, drainage studies, and supporting technical documentation
  • Assist with the preparation of permit applications and coordination with regulatory agencies
  • Utilize Civil 3D and water resources modeling software to develop and refine project designs
  • Coordinate regularly with clients, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams throughout project delivery
  • Lead and coordinate design activities, including assigning tasks and monitoring progress of team members
  • Support project execution to meet scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives

Job description

What you'll do:

On-site: Monday–Thursday 7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.; Friday 7:30 a.m.–11:30 a.m.
