Job summary

Thomas & Hutton is seeking a senior water resources engineer to lead stormwater master planning, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, and design for public and private sector projects. You will mentor a growing team and coordinate with multidisciplinary professionals.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree, PE preferred, and strong communication. Expect hands-on field work, project management, and opportunities for advancement through T&H University and mentoring programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in water resources engineering.
  • PE license preferred.
  • Strong experience in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and stormwater management design.
  • Experience with green infrastructure and low impact development practices.
  • Experience with erosion and sediment control design and permitting.
  • Proficiency in preparing construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, ArcMap, and hydrologic/hydraulic modeling software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to lead client interactions.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and appropriately prioritize workflow.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to mentor staff and lead a high-performing team.
  • Ability to perform field work including lifting up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage water resources projects including stormwater master planning, drainage design, and hydrologic and hydraulic modeling
  • Oversee the development of watershed studies, capital improvement projects, and stormwater management solutions
  • Perform and manage hydrologic and hydraulic analyses (1D/2D modeling) and drainage design
  • Design and oversee stormwater management systems, erosion and sediment control plans, and NPDES permitting efforts
  • Develop and review contract documents including plans, specifications, and cost estimates
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, consultants, regulatory agencies, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Manage project scope, schedules, and budgets, including proposal development and fee negotiations
  • Perform and oversee FEMA Letter of Map Changes and related studies
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance to team members
  • Monitor project progress to ensure alignment with scope, schedule, and budget goals

What you’ll do
