Job summary

RRC Companies seeks a Civil Engineer II – Water Resources to advance hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for wind and solar projects from our Austin/Round Rock office. You will design stormwater systems, perform floodplain modelling, and contribute to reports and construction docs while coordinating with a multidisciplinary team.

The ideal candidate has a BS in Water Resources or Civil/Environmental Engineering, 2–4 years of drainage design experience, and an EIT with PE potential within 6 months.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Water Resources or Civil/Environmental Engineering.
• EIT and able to obtain a PE license within 6 months from hire, or current PE.
• 2–4 years of strong experience in drainage design and hydrologic/hydraulic concepts and modeling.
• Knowledge of hydrological methods: Rational method, Small Watershed Method, SCS Hydrological Soil (NRCS).
• Software experience: HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, ArcGIS, HY-8; ESRI GIS extensions; FLO2D; AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Responsibilities

• Perform large complex hydrologic and hydraulic modelling for wind and solar project developments.
• Design and analyze stormwater drainage systems including culverts, crossings, detention, and scour mitigation.
• Conduct stormwater quality and erosion mitigation analysis and design.
• Perform floodplain modelling and prepare reports, studies, exhibits, and designs.
• Collaborate with other staff to produce quality H&H models and cost-effective designs.
• Assist in development of construction documents and field investigations.
• Travel to jobsites (5%) for site visits and meetings.
