Job summary

RESPEC in Anchorage, AK invites a Water Resources Intern for its 2027 Summer Internship Program. This temporary, part-time role supports planning, design, and implementation of water resources projects under the supervision of experienced staff.

Remote work is not offered. You will gain hands-on experience with hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, ArcGIS, and AutoCAD Civil3D while contributing to projects in stormwater, floodplain management, fish passage design, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering with interest in water resources.
• Good working knowledge of the fundamentals of civil engineering concepts.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Self-motivated and detail-oriented.
• Ability to contribute and work well on a team.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work safely in both office and field environments; valid driver’s license and field work capability.

Responsibilities

• Hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, calculations, and design.
• ArcGIS analysis and figure development.
• AutoCAD Civil3D drafting and design.
• Application of standard engineering techniques and procedures.
• Technical memo and report development.
• Fieldwork, as required by current workload.
• Involvement in the summer internship program.
• Other duties as needed.
