Salt Lake City seeks a Water Quality Supervisor to lead regulatory programs, oversee MS4 permit implementation, and drive citywide stormwater integration for clean water compliance. You will guide planning, inspections, reporting, and enforcement while supervising professional staff and collaborating with operations, engineering, and external partners.

Responsibilities

• Acts as coach and mentor, trains staff on permitting, sampling, chain of custody, data collection, regulations, inspections, and enforcement actions.
• Leads technical writing of reports, annual plans, SOIs, monitoring plans, and enforcement letters.
• Supervises staff hiring, orientation, performance reviews, assignments, and discipline.
• Oversees hazard assessments, inspections, enforcement activities, training, and public outreach to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Assigns work, trains program staff, handles customer correspondence, inspections, investigations, and monitoring.
• Assists in budgeting and reviews budget documents for accuracy.
• Performs duties of Coordinator and Technician as needed, including hazard assessments and inspections across sectors.
• Coordinates analytical testing with contract laboratories and reviews results.
• Oversees enforcement actions and escalates as needed.
