Job summary

Salt Lake City Corporation seeks a Water Treatment Plant Manager to supervise operation of three drinking water treatment plants and ensure compliance with federal and state Safe Drinking Water Standards while maintaining high water quality.

This role blends advanced technical oversight with administrative leadership: managing budgets, coordinating plant upgrades, directing safety programs, training operators, and collaborating with Water Quality and Process engineers, SCADA and CMMS staff.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a technical field (construction, engineering, environmental tech, physics, chemistry, microbiology or related).
• Four years of experience in construction management and maintenance of water treatment facility equipment; additional work may substitute education.
• Three years of supervisory experience; ability to prepare and maintain accurate reports and drawings.
• Certification: Water Treatment Plant Operator Grade IV unrestricted or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Oversees day-to-day operation of three water treatment plants, monitors water quality and equipment maintenance.
• Manages staffing, addresses staffing needs, and resolves employee disputes to maintain a productive team.
• Develops and maintains facilities management and capital project budgets; proposes annual budget.
• Reviews major purchases for budget conformance and maintains plant operations within regulatory guidelines.
• Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations; implements safety requirements and protocols.
• Coordinates with Engineering, SCADA and telemetry personnel on plant projects and upgrades.
