Job summary

The Western Virginia Water Authority is seeking an Environmental Programs Coordinator in the Water Quality division. The role plans, directs, and supervises Environmental Programs Specialists and coordinates with the Assistant Director on inspections and regulatory practices related to wastewater programs.

Ideal candidates have a Science/Engineering degree and 2+ years of related experience; supervisory experience in pretreatment is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Science/Engineering with environmental coursework; 2+ years related experience preferred.
• Supervisory or management experience in an industrial pretreatment program is preferred.
• Courses in Pretreatment Inspection and Industrial Waste Treatment completed within 1-2 years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Oversees and directs Environmental Programs Specialists staff within Water Quality.
• Coordinate inspections and regulatory compliance activities for pretreatment, FOG, and land application programs.
• Maintain inspection reports, review laboratory data, and issue notices of violation when needed.
• Develop training and SOPs with the Assistant Director for new processes and guidelines.
• Ensure safety, storm water, and on-call coverage requirements are met.
