Job summary

Western Virginia Water Authority is seeking a Source Water Scientist to plan and manage the Asset Management Program for water distribution and wastewater systems, including CAD, GIS, CMMS, and hydraulic modeling. The role ensures asset data quality, system capacity, and operating efficiency while prioritizing projects based on demand, risk and service levels.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil/environmental engineering or related field with 5+ years in master planning, modelling, asset management.
• Virginia Professional Engineer license preferred.
• Ability to supervise personnel and manage staff and consultants.

Responsibilities

• Recommend multi-year CIP and lead annual updates to maintain levels of service.
• Direct engineering staff and consultants in asset management, modeling studies, master plans and reports.
• Provide asset management expertise to Directors and Management for business process improvements.
• Manage GIS, hydraulic modeling, and CMMS upgrades and coordination.
• Develop and manage flow monitoring and condition assessment programs.
• Prepare technical reports, SOPs, and presentations for stakeholders.
• Prepare water hydraulic/quality reports for developments per DEQ/VDH requirements.
• Oversee calibration of hydraulic models as system changes occur.
• Read plans and ensure asset registry and geospatial records are updated.
• Develop and update process schematics reflecting data storage and analysis.
• Support compliance with financial and asset management requirements and assist in policy development.
