City of Chesapeake is seeking a Water Meter Technician I – Tech II Assistant to work outdoors, assist with water meter changes up to 2 inches, and help establish water service for new developments.
This full-time role offers a strong benefits package. Requires a high school diploma or GED, about one year of college in accounting or related field, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work Monday–Friday with some Saturdays.

Required Qualifications
VOCATIONAL / EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS : Requires high school diploma or GED and any combination of education and experience equivalent to satisfactory completion of one year of college education in accounting or a closely related field. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS : In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this class requires a minimum of one month of related, full-time equivalent experience. SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES : Requires a valid driver’s license and a driving record that is in compliance with theCity Driving Standards . Special skills or equipment certification will be required. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS : Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience using hand tools a plus. Experience Working with Water meters /plumbing. Outdoor work experience Good customer service skills are necessary.
