City of Chesapeake Bridges Division seeks an Electrician to maintain movable and fixed bridges and related electrical systems. You will handle maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency responses to support public mobility.
Requirements include a Virginia Journeyman Electrician license, strong NEC knowledge, and the ability to work in confined spaces and at heights. This is a full-time, on-site position in Chesapeake, VA with a $3,000 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates.

Required Qualifications
VOCATIONAL / EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT : Requires high school diploma or GED / HSE and any combination of education and experience equivalent to satisfactory completion of one year of college education in electrical systems or a closely related field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT : In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this class requires a minimum of two years of related, full-time equivalent experience.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES : Requires a valid driver’s license and a driving record in compliance with City Driving Standards and a current Journeyman Electrician license.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS : Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
