Job summary

Pender County is seeking a field meter reader to perform routine water meter readings for billing purposes. You will visit homes and businesses, locate meters, and record usage using handheld devices.

The role requires excellent customer service, safe driving, and the ability to work independently. A high school diploma or GED is required, and the position involves an on-call rotation and driving responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
• Ability to read and interpret street maps and records.
• Ability to work independently with attention to detail and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Read residential and commercial water meters and record readings.
• Provide courteous customer service in the field and explain service changes as needed.
• Turn water service on/off and perform basic maintenance on meters.
• Operate a vehicle and be available for on-call rotations.
