Job summary

Hernando County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) seeks a field technician to perform maintenance and replacement of residential and commercial water meters and boxes. You will work with the asset management team on meter verification and mapping while handling daily work orders and reporting locations for mapping.

You will troubleshoot issues, perform manual field labor, stock materials, and communicate professionally with the public, contractors, and vendors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum one year of Hernando County utility field work or related field preferred.
• Valid Florida Driver's License or ability to obtain; acceptable ID if not driving.
• Ability to obtain FEMA NIMS IS-100.c, IS-200.b, IS-700.b within 3 months.

Responsibilities

• Repair, maintain, and replace water meters 5/8” to 2” in field.
• Maintain meter boxes, replace lids, or entire box as needed.
• Complete daily work orders via tablet or similar device.
• Locate/report meter boxes locations for mapping by Asset Management.
• Troubleshoot meters/boxes and take corrective action.
• Stock materials on vehicle for efficient service.
• Communicate effectively with public, contractors and vendors.
• Assist in periodic meter inventory counts.
