Job summary

The City of Port St. Lucie is seeking a Water Meter Technician to read, install, and maintain residential and commercial water meters. You will handle meter exchanges, compute consumption, and manage work orders while providing dependable customer service.

Essential duties include responding to emergencies, scheduling overtime as needed, and supporting the Utilities department with accurate data entry and recordkeeping. Must pass drug screening and have a valid Florida license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Florida driver's license with clean driving record required.
• Ability to read meters and record readings accurately.
• Knowledge of basic mechanical principles and use of hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Maintains water meters, reads meters, and records readings.
• Installs, replaces, inspects, and maintains residential and commercial water meters.
• Replaces meter boxes and/or lids; performs routine maintenance and minor repairs.
• Generates work orders and responds to customer inquiries and emergency calls.
