Job summary

The City of Brooksville is seeking a Water Meter Technician to install, repair, and read water and sewer meters, fix leaks, and respond to customer inquiries. This essential role may require night or weekend work during emergencies, including severe weather events.

A valid Florida driver’s license and a high school diploma are required. Work hours can vary, and duties include maintaining records, following safety rules, and coordinating with supervisors and other staff to keep water and sewer

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; six months of public utilities experience preferred.
• Valid Florida Driver’s License required; clean driving record.
• Ability to read meters, record data, and communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

• Read meters and record consumption using manual tools and electrical equipment.
• Install and remove water/sewer meters and maintain valves.
• Respond to customer inquiries and document services provided.
• Repair leaks and assist in installation and maintenance of water/sewer lines.
• Follow work orders and coordinate with City staff during projects.
• Work independently and as part of a team; support emergency response tasks.
