Job summary

City of Edinburg in Edinburg, TX seeks a Meter Reader to perform accurate reading, installation, removal, repair and maintenance of water meters. You will read meters, notify customers of water outages, maintain tools and equipment, and complete daily reports.

A valid Texas Class C driver's license is required, with TCEQ licenses pursued after hire. The position offers competitive pay and a comprehensive benefits package including paid holidays, PTO, life and dental insurance, a retirement plan

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED or equivalency.
• No experience required.
• Must have a current valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety.
• Preferred TCEQ Class "C" or higher Water Distribution License.
• Achieve TCEQ Class "D" Water Distribution License within first year.
• Achieve TCEQ Class "C" Water Distribution License within three years.

Responsibilities

• Read, install, remove, repair and maintain water meters.
• Notify customers when water will be shut off for repairs.
• Maintain vehicles, tools and equipment and complete daily work reports.
• Respond to customer complaints of low pressure, no water, and meter leaks.
• Collaborate with other divisions as needed.
