Job summary

The Lee County Utilities Department is looking for a Tradesworker – Water Infrastructure to join our team in Fort Myers, Florida. You will perform advanced trades work on the water distribution system, install and repair water lines, meters, and hydrants, and operate a range of heavy and light equipment.

The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and quality workmanship in maintaining essential water infrastructure.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
Six (6) months of relevant experience in public utilities or related fields.
Ability to work independently and make sound decisions with minimal supervision.
Must possess a Florida Class A Commercial Learner’s Permit with Tanker Endorsement before receiving a job offer
Must obtain a Florida Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement within 90 days of hire
DEP Level 3 Water Distribution Operator training within two years of hire

Responsibilities

Perform complex repairs, maintenance, and installations of water distribution infrastructure.
Install, replace, and repair water lines 1"–36" in diameter.
Maintain and repair water valves, water meters, and fire hydrants.
Operate mobile, heavy, and light equipment (track hoes, backhoes, loaders, Vac-Con trucks, dump trucks).
Troubleshoot and diagnose issues within water distribution systems.
Interpret and work from blueprints, diagrams, and technical sketches.
Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and the public.
