Job summary

Ramboll invites you to join its Water Infrastructure group as a Site Design Engineer, delivering site and civil infrastructure solutions for municipal and industrial clients across Upstate New York and the Mid-Atlantic.

You will take ownership of defined design assignments, develop site layouts and drainage plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D, perform calculations, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams through planning, permitting, design and construction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, or related engineering required.
• At least four years of site/civil engineering experience.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D for site-design and construction documents.
• Experience in site layout, grading, drainage, stormwater management, permitting, and construction-phase support.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate with project managers and multidisciplinary teams.
• Engineer-in-Training preferred with interest in licensure.
• Experience with municipal, water-infrastructure, industrial, or green-infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Independently complete defined site and civil design assignments under the direction of a project manager or senior technical lead.
• Develop site layouts, grading and drainage plans, stormwater-management facilities, erosion and sediment control plans, utility layouts, and construction documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Develop surfaces using feature lines, contours, corridors, and perform earthwork balance analysis.
• Perform engineering calculations, evaluate design options, and prepare technical reports, specs, permit documents, and cost estimates.
• Coordinate design information with internal disciplines, clients, permitting agencies, contractors, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Support construction-phase services, including site visits, submittal reviews, and field condition documentation.
• Follow Ramboll safety and quality-control processes and communicate project status and issues.
• Participate in relevant professional affiliations.
