Job summary

WSP is seeking a Business Development Director for the Water Business Line in our New York, NY office. This is a strategic leadership role focused on expanding market presence, building trusted client partnerships, and leading major pursuits in water infrastructure.

You will develop multi-year plans, mentor leaders, and drive capture planning and proposals for transformative water projects. Strong relationships in the local market are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years of experience in related field.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science, Planning, Business, or related discipline.
• Demonstrated leadership, accountability, persistence, and goal orientation.
• Ability to innovate and rethink conventional client/employee engagement.
• Strong decision-making, strategic and visionary thinking, and creative business development across multiple disciplines.
• Strongly established client relationships and industry contacts in the local area.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a multi-year east region business plan aligned with WSP’s national and global water objectives.
• Identify and prioritize target markets and clients based on strategic value and funding opportunities.
• Grow market share to fulfill the goal that WSP becomes the preferred, trusted advisor to clients.
• Mentor client account managers and technical leaders to elevate client care and business development capabilities.
• Lead capture planning and proposal strategies for transformative water projects.
• Collaborate with local area leaders to drive the business with KPIs of pipeline health, win ratio, sales, funding and as-sold margin.
