Job summary

Black & Veatch invites a Civil Engineer Intern to contribute to water and wastewater infrastructure projects across multiple locations including Kansas City, Creve Coeur and Des Moines. This college internship offers hands-on experience, mentorship, and exposure to design, analysis and project delivery in a real-world setting.

The position requires enrollment in an ABET-accredited civil engineering program and the ability to complete onboarding requirements.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in ABET-accredited civil engineering program.
• No experience required for internship.
• Able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (background check, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Develops familiarity by reading, understanding and applying departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and BV policies.
• Coordinates with multidisciplinary project teams to support design and construction of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Performs routine research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection.
• Prepares basic engineering calculations following standard methods and principles used in similar engineering analysis.
• Assists with development of project schedules, cost estimates, and engineering deliverables to support successful project execution.
• Focuses on the needs of internal clients while gaining understanding of external clients' main interests.
• Develops and applies knowledge of engineering software, design tools, and digital delivery methods.
