Job summary

Downtown YMCA Dayton is seeking a part-time Water Aerobics Instructor to provide engaging, safe water exercise classes for members and participants at the Dayton facility.

You will lead sessions following YMCA guidelines, monitor safety, and promote wellness programs while maintaining equipment and space cleanliness. A strong customer-focused approach and reliability are essential to support our community’s fitness goals.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED required; 2-year college degree in Physical Education/Exercise Science or related field, or applicable experience, preferred.
• Minimum of six months class participation experience or fitness class assistant and a strong interest in fitness.

Responsibilities

• Leads fitness and/or related classes following YMCA standards and guidelines.
• Communicates and enforces wellness center rules at participants’ comprehension level.
• Trains participants in a demonstrative and professional manner.
• Watches and corrects participants when exercising unsafely.
• Promotes wellness and other YMCA programs.
• Arrives 10–15 minutes prior to class to begin duties.
• Sets up and takes down class equipment; starts and ends every class on time.
• Takes attendance and ensures proper registration for each class.
• Educates members on appropriate attire for group classes.
• Teaches entire session and arranges subs for sickness/vacations.
• Develops positive relationships with members and provides motivational support.
• Encourages healthy lifestyle awareness and regular participation.
• Inspects equipment for safety hazards and notifies supervisor of concerns.
