Job summary

The City of Lakeland is seeking a Water Utilities Pipefitter I/II to install, repair, and maintain water distribution and wastewater collection systems. You will read blueprints, lay mains, install hydrants and valves, and perform skilled pipefitting tasks in a hands-on role.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and relevant pipefitting experience; you may be required to obtain licenses such as Class A CDL within six months and a Class C Water Distribution License within 18

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of pipe fitting experience for II level with water system maintenance.
• A valid Class C Water Distribution License is required for Pipefitter II.

Responsibilities

• Lay water mains and install hydrants, valves, and fittings; perform repairs.
• Read blueprints to select fittings and materials; measure pipe lengths.
• Operate heavy equipment as needed for water system projects.
• Maintain tools and equipment; perform threading and caulking of joints.
• Perform emergency repairs and overtime as required.
