Job summary

The City of Lakeland, FL seeks a dedicated Water Utilities Pipefitter I/II to install, repair and maintain water distribution systems. Responsibilities include laying mains, installing hydrants and valves, reading blueprints, and performing equipment maintenance.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, two years of pipe fitting experience (one year in water systems) and a Class C Water Distribution License. CDL may be required within six months. OT and standby duties possible.

Qualifications

• Two years of pipe fitting experience, with one year in installation, repair, and maintenance of water systems.
• Must possess and maintain a Class “C” Water Distribution License.

Responsibilities

• Lays water mains and installs hydrants, valves, fittings, clamps, and sleeves; performs difficult repairs.
• Reads water main blueprints to select fittings and measures pipe lengths.
• Operates heavy equipment as needed and performs maintenance on tools and equipment.
• Performs emergency repairs after hours and may work standby duty.
