Job summary

City of Lakeland is seeking a Water Meter Repairer II (potentially hired at Water Meter Repairer I) to repair, test, install and maintain residential and commercial water meters in both shop and field settings, including testing meters, repairing service lines, and investigating issues with water usage.

The role involves operating AMI equipment, handling water pressure concerns, managing inventory in the Meter Shop, and performing maintenance on pumps and related tools, with overtime as needed

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED is required.
For Water Meter Repairer II: 2080 hours of meter repair experience and a Class C license are required.
Special requirements include valid driver's license and ability to obtain Class A CDL and Class C license within stated periods.

Responsibilities

Install, remove, and relocate water meters and related hardware.
Test meters, repair service lines, and address water pressure issues.
Wires and troubleshoots AMI system components.
Maintain inventory in the Meter Shop and assist with training as needed.
Perform maintenance on pumps and shop tools; ensure safety and compliance.
Overtime or alternate hours may be required for department efficiency.
