Job summary

City of Palm Bay is seeking a Water Distribution Supervisor to oversee operations, maintenance and repair of the water distribution system, including raw water and reclaimed water networks.

The role requires supervisory experience, a Florida driver’s license, and a Class I Water Distribution System license, with an associate degree preferred. Candidates should be able to manage schedules, procurement, reports, and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and at least five (5) years of water distribution system operation and maintenance experience.
• Two (2) years of supervisory experience in a water distribution foreman or higher role for leadership.
• Associate degree in water technology or related field preferred.
• Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
• Licenses/certifications must be kept current; Class I WDS license required; Class A CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct activities of the City’s water distribution system operations.
• Develop and ensure adherence to policies, goals, procedures and standards.
• Lead staff and promote innovation while delegating and communicating goals.
• Handle personnel matters including recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluations as per policy.
• Establish and monitor maintenance schedules for department equipment and oversee maintenance work.
• Prepare purchase specifications and procure parts to maintain inventory for daily operations.
• Prepare activity reports and assist in budget projections.
• Review literature to stay current on water distribution trends.
• Prepare drawings and calculations for rehab and replacement of water systems.
