Job summary

The City of Palm Bay is seeking a Water Plant Operator to join our water treatment team. Under supervision, you will operate and help maintain water purification equipment, read gauges, collect lab samples, and assist in plant inspections to ensure efficient, compliant operation.

Responsibilities include performing minor repairs, maintaining records, and coordinating with the Chief Operator. A high school diploma and a valid Florida driver’s license are required; a Level C water plant operator

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school.
• Some work experience involving operation of mechanical or electrical equipment preferred.
• Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License and have and maintain an acceptable, safe driving record.

Responsibilities

• Trains in monitoring and maintenance of water purification processes to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Maintains and repairs pumps and equipment, records inspections and activity.
• Collects water samples and delivers them to the laboratory for analysis.
• Maintains plant cleanliness and grounds, may work shifts including weekends/holidays.
• Performs other related work as required.
• Reports to the Chief Operator of the water purification plant.
