Job summary

The City of West Melbourne is seeking a skilled Water Distribution Supervisor who will oversee Water Distribution Workers in the repair, maintenance, and upgrading of the water system. The role may include evening and weekend hours and occasional overtime to restore water service.

Ideal candidates hold a Florida Class A CDL with tanker endorsement, Level 2 and preferably Level 1 Water Distribution licenses, plus strong knowledge of GIS, construction plans, and heavy equipment operation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; five years in water distribution with at least three in a progressive role.
• Demonstrated knowledge of water distribution systems and backflow prevention.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment and read construction plans.
• Strong communication and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Directs and supervises Water Distribution Worker positions in repair, maintenance, and upgrading of the water system.
• Coordinates water distribution field work with other city departments and agencies.
• Responds to water emergencies after hours outside of on-call rotation.
• Assists in estimating materials and organizing work orders and reports.
• Ensures compliance with applicable FDEP requirements.
