Job summary

American Water currently seeks three Utility Technician candidates to perform field service duties in installation, maintenance, and repair of water distribution systems. You will operate vehicles and equipment, excavate, install piping, read meters, and document field data in line with company procedures.

The role requires basic knowledge of water systems, safety practices, and strong communication to resolve customer issues and coordinate with operations teams.

Qualifications

• Must understand water distribution components, including mains, valves and meters.
• Knowledge of safety practices for field operations and PPE requirements.
• Basic mechanical/electrical knowledge and ability to operate basic field equipment.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate company vehicles and field equipment as needed.
• Excavate and install service piping, valves, hydrants, and related infrastructure.
• Read meters and record readings for accurate billing within schedules.
