Job summary

The City of Burlington, Vermont, is seeking a Team Lead for its Water Resources division to coordinate field crews installing, maintaining, and repairing the water distribution system. You will supervise on-site operations, enforce safety and AWWA standards, and guide staff through training and daily tasks.

Responsibilities include planning work, ensuring compliance with regulations, and collaborating with the Water Resources Director to optimize workflows and asset management.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of underground water infrastructure construction, with 3 years in a leadership role.
• CDL-B; must obtain Class A within 1 year of hire.
• Vermont Operator Certification Class D required or obtainable within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily and weekly workflow of the team.
• Provide on-site feedback on job proficiency and productivity; ensure compliance with AWWA, state regulations, and city safety requirements.
• Orient new employees and ensure safety training is completed before deployment.
• Review leave requests for resource needs and payroll accuracy; coordinate on-call scheduling.
• Coordinate with drinking water production and customer service, including field investigations related to water supply.
• Ensure all work complies with AWWA standards and city procedures; maintain proper documentation and asset records.
• Develop monthly/annual work plans and SOPs; participate in capital improvements input.
• Oversee safety meetings, equipment readiness, and coordination with Fleet and ROW teams.
