Job summary

West Des Moines Water Works is seeking a Water Distribution Manager to lead the Distribution Department. You will plan, direct, and evaluate the operations, maintenance, repair, and improvement of the distribution system, ensuring regulatory compliance, safety, budgeting, and effective asset management.

You will supervise staff, oversee scheduling and resources, coordinate construction activities, and respond to emergencies.

Qualifications

Experience leading a distribution or operations team.
Strong budgeting and cost control skills.
Knowledge of industry regulations and safety standards.

Responsibilities

Establishes goals and objectives for the distribution department.
Develop and implement maintenance and repair practices meeting standards; ensure efficient use of labor, materials, and equipment.
Direct supervision of Distribution Department staff with performance management and staffing decisions.
Schedule, assign, and inspect repair work on water mains, valves, hydrants, and appurtenances.
Determine equipment and tools required for maintenance and recommend purchases.
Evaluate asset condition and set maintenance priorities with senior staff.
Maintain accurate records including GIS and asset-management systems.
Respond to water service issues and monitor distribution system for leaks.
Oversee procurement and ensure inventory availability within budget.
Promote safety practices within the distribution operations.
