Job summary

The City of Centerville is seeking a Public Works Lead to coordinate daily field tasks, guide technical work, and train staff while ensuring safe practices. Responsibilities include installing/maintaining water and sewer lines, utility infrastructure, roadway maintenance, and policy development.

After-hours emergencies and on-call shifts are required. CDL Class A, Water Class D, and Wastewater Class SD licenses (or ability to obtain within 12 months) are necessary.

Qualifications

• Three to six years of experience in public works operations.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Entry level technical training acquired on the job or through one year or less of technical or business school, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily tasks and assign work to field personnel.
• Provide technical guidance and training to staff in the field.
• Promote safe practices, procedures, and equipment operation.
• Install and maintain water and sewer lines and other utility infrastructure.
• Maintain roadways, including paving, sweeping and snow removal.
• Assist in researching and drafting division policies and procedures.
