Job summary

City of Burlington, Vermont is seeking a Distribution Working Foreperson/Lead for the Water Resources team. You will coordinate field crews performing installation, maintenance, and repair of the water distribution system in accordance with AWWA standards and city regulations.

The role requires strong leadership, safety focus, and the ability to manage daily operations, scheduling, and asset documentation. On-site duties and occasional after-hours work are involved.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Five years of underground water infrastructure experience with at least three years in a leadership role.
• Valid CDL-B; must obtain CDL-A within one year.
• Vermont State Operator Certification Class D or ability to obtain within one year.
• OSHA 30 required within one year.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily workflow of the field service team in coordination with Water Resources leadership.
• Ensure safety, compliance with AWWA, and state/city regulations on all tasks.
• Oversee maintenance and repair of water mains, services, hydrants, and valves.
• Coordinate with other city departments and stakeholders for project execution.
• Maintain documentation and asset records; ensure timely completion of work orders.
