Job summary

The City of Houston, Houston Public Works, seeks a Field Operations Technician to investigate water distribution service requests and respond to inquiries from citizens and officials.

You will read drawings/maps, update work orders, ensure safety, perform detailed records, and prepare technical reports. Requires a high school diploma, 1 year of related experience, and a Texas driver's license.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED and up to 18 months of specialized education or training.
• One (1) year of experience related to customer service or an area of inspection is required.
• Valid Texas driver's license and compliance with City of Houston driving policy.

Responsibilities

• Investigates water distribution service requests and updates the work order system.
• Responds to complaints and inquiries from citizens, officials, and outside agencies.
• Ensures job sites are safe and secure for the public.
• Performs detailed record-keeping to maintain filings, reports, and documentation.
• Reads drawings and maps to verify locations of mains, valves, hydrants, and other utilities.
