Job summary

The City of Houston Public Works Department seeks candidates to perform repairs and maintenance of water distribution lines, service laterals, meters, valves and hydrants; provide mechanical service for water utilities; perform restoration work such as paving, fences, and landscaping. You will operate heavy equipment and lead teams on job sites across Houston.

Requires a High School Diploma or GED and six months of experience with power tools; a Texas driver’s license is required, CDL may be

Qualifications

Six (6) months of experience performing manual and field work with power tools or equipment.
Requires a High School Diploma or GED and ability to read, write, and follow basic instructions.
Valid Texas driver’s license; CDL may be required depending on equipment.

Responsibilities

Repair and maintenance of water distribution lines, service laterals, meters, valves, and fire hydrants.
Provide effective maintenance and mechanical service for water utility systems.
Conduct restoration work including concrete/asphalt paving, fencing, and landscaping within City rights of way and client properties.
Operate heavy, medium, and light equipment and transport crews, tools, and materials to sites.
Lead a team, inspect sites, and train new personnel; prepare work orders and related documents.
