Job summary

City of Houston seeks candidates for a role in Houston Water/Drinking Water Operations to troubleshoot and maintain instrumentation and low voltage electrical systems. The position requires an associate's degree in a related field and at least one year of experience with computerized data networks or industrial control systems.

Occasional emergency response is required. Preferred applicants have knowledge of electrical controls and may hold a Texas Electrical Journeyman license.

Qualifications

Associate's degree in computer science, instrumentation, or electronics or equivalent certification.
One year of experience with computerized data networks or industrial control systems.
Experience may substitute education year-for-year.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, maintain, manage, and upgrade instrumentation and low voltage electrical systems.
Research and analyze cause of failures; repair, calibrate, replace equipment for max functionality.
Perform preventive maintenance to ensure safe, clean, and continuous operations.
Prepare and update records, logs, and reports.
Respond to emergency calls during/after hours for instrumentation failures and shutdowns.
Document and monitor work in a Work Management System.
Research technical product specifications.
Inspect field locations to determine placement of instrumentation components.
