Job summary

The City of Portsmouth is seeking a Backflow Prevention Program Coordinator to implement and supervise the city's backflow prevention program. You will schedule inspections, determine required devices, maintain records, and coordinate field activities with building inspectors and industry partners.

Responsibilities include responding to customer inquiries, coordinating laboratory tests, collecting compliance samples, and preparing written reports.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with some college coursework in chemistry, biology or a related field.
• 1-2 years of experience in water distribution or a related field; handling customer service concerns preferred.
• Possession of Backflow Prevention Device Tester’s License or ability to obtain within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Schedules and conducts backflow inspections and determines required backflow preventers.
• Maintains records and maps of distribution systems and maintains test records for backflow preventers.
• Responds to customer complaints and inquiries regarding water quality.
• Coordinates laboratory tests in response to concerns.
• Collects water compliance samples as required.
• Prepares written reports on inspections and compliance for industrial facilities.
