Job summary

The RealReal is seeking a Watch Technician to authenticate, diagnose, and repair quartz watches within our e-commerce centers. You will collaborate with multiple internal teams to ensure a seamless consignor experience and an efficient production pipeline.

Responsibilities include identifying brands/models, opening cases, diagnosing issues, performing battery changes, calibrations, pressure tests, and authentication across brands. Strong attention to detail and communication are essential.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience servicing quartz timepieces.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination.
  • Perfect vision (natural or corrected).
  • Ability to execute on communication systems.
  • Polished in verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to handle multiple complex, time sensitive situations.
  • Understanding of daily quotas and deadlines.
  • Ability to work within specific process constraints.

  • Replace coils/circuits in quartz movements.
  • Replace complete quartz movements.
  • Calibrate chronograph indicators to factory settings.
  • Perform pressure tests and timing measurements.
  • Demagnetize all watch types.
  • Authenticate quartz watches across brands.
  • Clean external components of non-leather-strap watches using appropriate methods.

About The Role

The Watch Technician's key areas of responsibility include the authentication, diagnostics, and repair of quartz. This position will authenticate and service watches within our e-commerce centers and communication across multiple internal teams to execute a seamless consignor experience and a frictionless production pipeline.

The Watch Technician's key areas of responsibility include the authentication, diagnostics, and repair of quartz. This position will authenticate and service watches within our e-commerce centers and communication across multiple internal teams to execute a seamless consignor experience and a frictionless production pipeline.

What You Get To Do Everyday
  • Identify all quartz watches (watch brand, watch model, movement brand, movement model)
  • Open and close all types of watch cases without damaging them
  • Diagnose quartz movement issues
  • Change batteries and gaskets
  • Replace coils/circuits in quartz movements
  • Replace complete quartz movements
  • Calibrate chronograph and other complication indicators to original factory settings in quartz watches
  • Perform pressure test on all watch types
  • Perform timing measurements on all watch types
  • Demagnetize all watch types
  • Authenticate quartz watches across all brands
  • Clean external components of all non-leather-strap watches (case, crystal, bracelet) using appropriate method, including ultrasonic solution/machine and steamer
  • Perform any additional daily tasks as directed by supervisor
Minimum Requirements
  • 3-5 years of experience servicing quartz timepieces
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination
  • Perfect vision (natural or corrected)
  • Ability to execute on communication systems
  • Adept at working with, and open to learning new technology solutions to increase productivity and efficiency
  • Polished in verbal and written communication
  • Ability to handle multiple complex, time sensitive situations
  • Understanding of daily quotas, deadlines
  • Ability to work within specific process constraints
Preferred Requirements
  • Brand certification from major watch brand
  • Disassembling and overhauling mechanical/automatic movements
  • Polishing cases and bracelets

The expected hourly rate for this role is $25.00-$25.00. To determine starting pay we carefully consider a variety of factors, including primary work location and an evaluation of a candidate's skills, experience, market demands, and internal parity. Additionally, salary is just one component of TRR's total rewards package. Depending on role, employees may also be eligible for a bonus program, incentive pay and benefits.
