Job summary

The RealReal in Secaucus, NJ is seeking a Lab Technician to join our Authentication Centers workflow. You will operate XRF and X-Ray equipment, record readings, and support authentication of fine jewelry and watches in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.

The role emphasizes attention to detail, teamwork with the Fine Jewelry and Watches team, and adherence to SOPs. Weekend and overtime work may be required; a high school diploma is the starting point.

Responsibilities

• Operate XRF machine to assign precious metal components.
• Enter XRF readings into database.
• Operate X-Ray machine to image fashion products.

• Assess weights and measurements of jewelry items.
• Collaborate with Fine Jewelry & Watches authentication.

What You Get To Do Everyday

[Authentication]

• Operate XRF machine to accurately assign precious metal components
• Enter XRF readings into database
• Operate X-Ray machine to accurately image various fashion products
• Enter X-Ray readings into database
• Work with emerging technologies as they are added to our daily processes
• Create baseline data feedback
• Scan items to locations
• Conduct quality control reviews of authenticator XRF readings to ensure compliance with SOPs and authentication standards.
• Document and report QC findings, ensuring accurate records and visibility into quality trends

[Fine Jewelry and Watches]

• Operate XRF machine to accurately assign precious metal components
• Enter XRF readings into database
• Assess weights & measurements of jewelry items
• Clean jewelry items using ultrasonic, steam machine and other industry standard equipment
• Diamond Count
• Collaborate with TRR Fine Jewelry & Watches authentication department as needed to facilitate the processing of fine and fashion jewelry
• Operate CWED (Carat Weight Estimation Device) to accurately calculate the carat weight of diamonds on a piece of jewelry.
• Enter CWED reading into database
• Scan items to locations

The expected hourly rate for this role is $17-$17. To determine starting pay we carefully consider a variety of factors, including primary work location and an evaluation of a candidate’s skills, experience, market demands, and internal parity. Additionally, salary is just one component of TRR’s total rewards package. Depending on role, employees may also be eligible for a bonus program, incentive pay and benefits.
