Job summary

The City of Wasilla is seeking a dedicated Water and Wastewater Systems Operator to operate and maintain the city's wastewater collection and treatment facilities, and to support water treatment and distribution as a secondary function.

Responsibilities include operating treatment facilities and equipment, performing monthly sampling, maintaining pumps and valves, and ensuring compliance with state regulations.

Qualifications

• One year experience in sewer and water operations.
• Alaska Level I wastewater collection certificate.
• Provisional water treatment and distribution certification within 1 year.
• CDL with Tanker endorsement within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Operate wastewater treatment facilities, septage receiving facility, and related equipment.
• Maintain wastewater plant by adjusting valves and pumps and troubleshoot controls.
• Perform monthly wastewater sampling and log results.
• Operate and inspect wastewater collection facilities and service connections.
• Maintain the wastewater collections system and manage septic tank pumping schedule.
• Operate water production and distribution facilities, including wells and booster stations.
• Complete weekend rounds and security checks; record data on pumps and reservoirs.
• Respond to on-call utility calls within 20 minutes and repair systems.
