Job summary

The City & Borough of Sitka Alaska is seeking a Maintenance Worker to conduct routine to skilled maintenance on wastewater treatment facilities and related equipment to ensure proper operation.

On-call 24 hours per day on a rotating basis; overtime may be required during emergencies, including nights and weekends. A high school diploma and two years of experience in treatment facilities are preferred; CDL-B with Tanker Endorsement is a plus.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of power and hand tools and operation of motorized equipment.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others and provide customer service.
• Reading and understanding electrical schematics and diagrams.
• General computer knowledge and ability to maintain records.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine to skilled maintenance on wastewater treatment facilities and pumps.
• Repair and overhaul pumps, chlorinators, HVAC equipment and related components.
• Operate vehicles and equipment, follow safety protocols and wear PPE.
• Maintain maintenance records, assist scheduling and costing activities.
• Work on-call and overtime during emergencies, including nights and weekends.
