Job summary

City of Wasilla seeks a skilled operator to manage wastewater collection and treatment systems and to support water treatment and distribution as a secondary function. The role requires Alaska-level certifications, a CDL with Tanker endorsement, and at least one year of sewer and water operations experience.

Responsibilities include operating and maintaining facilities, monitoring and sampling, and responding to callouts promptly.

Qualifications

• Must possess State of Alaska level I certification in wastewater collection and wastewater treatment.
• Must obtain provisional water treatment and water distribution certifications within 1 year from date of hire.
• Must possess a valid State of Alaska Class A or B CDL with Tanker endorsement within 6 months from date of hire.
• One year experience in sewer and water operations.
• IS-100.b, IS-200.b, IS-700.a, and IS-800.b Homeland Security orientation tests required as online training within specified timelines.
• Must provide a current driving record within 30 days of request.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain wastewater collection and treatment systems and related facilities.
• Maintain water production and distribution facilities and establish new connections.
• Perform monthly wastewater sampling and maintain logs and chain of custody.
• Respond to utility call-outs within 20 minutes and repair systems to bring them back online.
• Perform weekend rounds and document pump, well, and reservoir activity.
