Job summary

Veolia in North America invites applications for a wastewater treatment operator. You will participate in operation, maintenance, and repair of water and wastewater facilities, monitoring equipment, performing tests, and ensuring accurate records.

The role requires safety awareness and the ability to communicate professionally with teams and inspectors. Required are a High School Diploma/GED and a valid IL DEP Class C Water Certificate and Class B Wastewater Certificate, with 5 years’ experience

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of water and wastewater treatment plant processes and ability to work independently.
• Ability to operate plant equipment and perform routine maintenance as needed.
• Strong communication skills with team, management, clients, and vendors.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and operates wastewater treatment plant equipment (pumps, valves, motors, etc.) and performs minor repairs.
• Conducts routine testing of water and records results.
• Monitors charts and gauges, calibrates chemical feed rates, and adjusts as needed.
• Maintains plant records and reports, and supports regulatory inspections.
• Responds to chemical treatment changes and hazardous releases per procedures.
