Job summary

The City of Wichita is seeking a skilled Wastewater Treatment Operator to operate, monitor, and maintain plant and transmission equipment across multiple sites. Responsibilities include chemical dosing, sampling, data recording, and routine troubleshooting within SCADA-driven controls.

Shifts include 1st, 2nd, and 3rd; training on 1st shift is provided for 3–6 months. Overtime, weekend work, and on-call duties may apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Water/wastewater operator certification preferred or required.
• CDL preferred for certain duties.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain wastewater treatment and transmission equipment.
• Monitor flows, pressures, and chemical dosages.
• Read and record performance data and logs.
• Troubleshoot equipment using SCADA and GIS data.
• Assist with maintenance and repair as needed.
